Oregon Junco

Oregon Junco

By Tony Abbey

This bird is larger than many at the bird table - but it is not as nimble as many others. It tends to wait below, feeding on the scatter from above. The Oregon Junco is a common visitor to Herron Island, in Puget Sound, Washington, where this sketch was made. The black eye is almost invisible against the dark head.
